Curse of Strahd: Session Six
Summary
The heroes stood in front of the black swamp where the Durst house had been and soon decided to go find a place to stay and perhaps finally eat a warm meal. They set out towards the town center of Barovia in search of an inn, but were soon intrigued by what sounded like a woman sobbing coming from a house further down the lane. They took a closer look and found all the doors and windows were boarded up. They managed to break in through various means, and set about exploring the house. They eventually found the source of the sobbing, a middle-aged woman named Mary, who said her daughter Gertruda ran away about a week ago. Mary was so protective of her daughter that she never allowed her to leave the house, and had tried her best to keep her happy and uninterested in the outside world. The heroes agreed to help Mary find her daughter and soon led her out of the house onto the street where they heard the squeaks and bumping sound of a large cart making its way door to door. The ancient looking old woman pushing the cart knocked on a door of a nearby house and a young couple answered with their young child in tow. The old hag fished out two packages and handed them over to the couple who tore them open and began devouring what looked like some type of crumbling bread. The hag then effortlessly snatched up the child who began kicking and screaming and placed him in a large sack tied to the cart. The parents seemed to plead with the hag to not take their child but they didn’t put up much of a fight.
