If I understand correctly, you may be aiming at the wrong target. IMO, Blogging content is too saturated to put food on the table. At best, you get syndicated on huffpo/buzzfeed — who don’t compensate writers.

Unless you are writing highly detailed/authoritative articles for the Economist, difficult road. 500 word articles are the antithesis of authoritative.

Myself, it may take a week to write one article. For myself, blogging is art and catharsis. I write to please myself and (roughly) 10 other readers.

I’m open to the idea of compensation for blogging. To that end, I’m exploring some new tactics in upcoming (and quite perverse) stuff.
