Can you expand a bit on the idea that AI can help keep us “wise”?
Jonathan Vitale

Thank you, I’m glad you asked.

Of course my scenario here is hypothetical in the hopes of encouraging discussion and sharing of ideas.

Assuming that we, as a society, have agency and we determine our future then let’s consider a best case scenario.

Current efforts in the data-driven, adaptive learning space are geared towards the subject knowledge centric nature of our education systems. An AI in this context might possibly take on the role of the teacher, available at any time and customised to the nature of the student.

So, it depends what we mean by “wise”. Is it this subject knowledge that makes us wise?

If we were to design an AI to help keep people wise, what would it do?
