Just an analogy, but plenty of other companies/industries have policies that essentially regulate their employees’ behavior outside of the workplace. Journalists aren’t allowed to make political contributions. Athletes aren’t allowed gamble on other sporting events. Etc. It’s not because those activities are legal or illegal. It’s because those activities create a perception that those people may not be able to adequately perform their jobs.
