The Myth of a Superhuman AI
Kevin Kelly

Brilliant. Deserves a wider readership. There is just far too much enthusiasm for the paranoid probable-fantasy of OMG the Singularity is coming and fantastically intelligent but ruthless machines and we’re all going to be turned into paperclips by the terminators — and fueled by the fears expressed by otherwise intelligent and articulate (and therefore influential) people like Nick Bostrom, who isn’t even a computer scientist but can apparently get the world worked up about what computer science is about to do. This article really puts so many related points into some sensible perspective.
