8. The processes that the leadership thinks need to change are not what actually happens on the front line in the corporation.

I have lost count of the number of times that I have talked to leaders who tell me “oh yes we do A B and C”, then gone to talk to the front-line workers. When I say to them “your leaders told me you do A B and C” the room goes quiet, and they look around, break eye contact and send out distress signals. Then eventually the bravest member of the team says something like “shall we tell you what we really do?”.
