This is absolutely true. Being recently separated has shown me that having two people working together, even when you are not getting along makes a huge difference.

Even from a purely financial standpoint. The splitting of bills makes a massive difference. I have had to massively scale back any social engagements, as even a night out in a pub with friends has become a significant expense whereas in a relationship it was just a small expense.
