Sometimes I’ve changed my own mind. That alone makes the effort worthwhile. I’ve learned that it’s rarely either one thing or the other. There aren’t just two ways of looking at something. Sometimes you can have three or four or five different ways of seeing something, depending on your perspective and what you believe is important. You learn to accept that you’ll never convince some people — some of whom may be people you care about. It’s ain’t always easy to do this, but I try to shrug it off, say it’s nothing in my young life and move on. Fact is, we live at different points in evolutionary time. A person can be an enlightened being in one sphere of existence and a knuckle-dragging neanderthal in another. Even people you love can surprise you. Happens all the time. Music helps. I listen to something suitably defiant like AC/DCs Problem Child (that’s me) and feel better.
