How to weather the storms

First, you begin each day with a grateful heart. It’s hard to complain when your thankful for what you have and thankful for what people have done for you. Not one person has accomplished anything without help. That self-made garbage is a lie. We all lean on something and someone for success. We rely on manufactures to build the vehicles we drive, the tools (including smart phones and tablets) we use, and the very homes we live in. That’s just the basic essentials. I’ll let you reflect on how many people you’ve needed just to get through high school. It’s true some are fed with a silver spoon but even they still need a team of people to sustain their lifestyle. If you don’t have the gratitude necessary to humble yourself, it’s very likely you will be taken out by a storm.

Second, take risks. It has yet to literally rain money and winning the lotto is just not going to happen for most of us, so it’s up to you. You must take the initiative and get off of your tail end. There is nothing like standing tall and fighting during an emotional or financial storm. Taking risks is fighting; when you fail (and you will if you take any type of risk at all), don’t dwell in self pity, crying over spilled milk — get back up and keep taking risks. Learn from your failures and use these opportunities to sharpen yourself and teach other folks what not to do.

Third, be aware of the bigger picture. A strengthened character is in the other side of every storm. Pay close attention to what is going on during the storm and take time to reflect on what part you played in the reason for the storm. It isn’t just all bad luck, it’s very likely you made some moves that weren’t wise. If you keep the bigger picture in mind, you’ll won’t see the so-called storm as a storm at all, rather another chapter and character building opportunity.

Lastly, believe in yourself and never waver. A plan is necessary and laser focus will assist you through any storm. Set attainable (THINK BIG) goals and know that you are the only one that can stop you. Collaborate and build a strong and healthy network, but understand that it is you that must find the hope, the energy, the creativity, work ethics, and drive to reach your goals.

“It can be far more difficult to overcome success then adversity.”
