Great start to the debate of how to reconstitute ourselves. I like the idea of trade being a foundational basis seeing as we already trade with ourselves, we can as well emphasise it and build on it by removing all forms of frictions from trade.

This brings me to my own counter idea. There’s already an existing system, granted dysfunctional. That system wouldn’t just go away without a fight. So linked to the trade idea is one that fights for a small government. An idea that asks government to get out of our lives. An idea that restricts and reduces the role of government to few specifics eg National border, foreign policy, monetary policy, very restricted fiscal policy at centre, citizenship and some infrastructure. If we don’t reduce the size of govt, especially federal, their bad habit of wanting to interfere and control prices by fiat will always get in the way of trade.
