I haven’t seen too much of this show but I know the basics about the characters and it’s interesting that you looked at Lily as the nurturer. I agree that in that relationship the writers definitely made Marshall the breadwinner and Lily the more traditional stay at home wife.

However, in the same show there is Robin who is more of an nontraditional tomboy. While she may fit into the Canadian stereotype of liking hockey, she is very much her own person with a career.

It’s interesting how the producers portrayed the two main female characters in very different ways.
