The Polygamy Question
Berny Belvedere

I lived through the period where is was uncool to be married and people had ‘partners’ instead. Referring to my ‘wife’ immediately labelled me as old school traditional and ‘un-liberated’ by many. Ironically it now seems everyone wants a wife/s or husband/s. Certainly there needs to be legal protections for people entering committed relationships, I not sure it needs to be ‘marriage’ if the same can be achieved with registering civil recognition and agreements. This would allow and provide protection for a wide range of co-habiting arrangements without the divisiveness of expanding the tradition co-habiting arrangement of marriage.
