Baltit Fort is a fort in the Hunza valley, near the town of Karimabad, in the Gilgit-Baltistan region of northern Pakistan.

It is Hunza’s most fascinating and iconic location and has consistently been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative List since the year 2004. This fort is said to be almost 700 years old. This fort provides a bird’s eye view of the magnificent Hunza valley with the gigantic Karakoram Mountains above.

This fort is enriched with history and the ancient interior. Hunza and Nager were competitors in the past, so; the rulers of these places constructed these forts to show their strength. The rulers of Hunza used to live in the Altit fort but after a dispute between brothers, one of them decided to stay at Baltit fort and made Baltit fort the capital of Hunza. The fort also has horns which were made to symbolise power. This place is loaded with history so, it is recommended to hire a guide as they will give you interesting information about it.
