Volleyball Association officially apologizes,
On October 8, the Korea Volleyball Association issued an official apology in the name of President Oh Han-nam. This is an apology for the poor performance at the ‘2022 Hangzhou Asian Games’.
In this tournament, the women’s national team, which was eliminated in the quarterfinals, finished in 5th place, while the men’s team was eliminated in the round of 12 and finished in 7th place.

The Korea Volleyball Association is very sorry for the national volleyball team’s poor performance in recent international competitions, such as the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, and would like to apologize to the citizens and volleyball fans who supported us.
The current men’s national team coach Lim Do-heon’s term ends after the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games, and a mutual agreement was reached with women’s national team coach Cesar to terminate his contract as participation in the 2024 Paris Olympics has become virtually impossible. In addition, the chairman of the association’s men’s and women’s performance improvement committee took responsibility for the poor performance and expressed his resignation.
In the future, the Korea Volleyball Association will carefully consider the direction of the national team and plan to draw a new picture for participation in the 2028 LA Olympics and the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Starting with the Korea Volleyball Association, we will establish and implement a mid- to long-term development plan so that Korean volleyball can go through growing pains and be reborn through thorough reform.
First, we plan to hold a public hearing in November this year, mainly involving external figures such as the media, volleyball experts, sports experts, and volleyball fans. Through this, the Association hopes to humbly accept and reflect on criticism and reprimands from all walks of life in order to improve the national team’s performance, as well as have a process of setting the direction in which the Association will move forward.
In addition, we will work hard to select the optimal leader to improve the national team’s performance. In addition, we will spare no effort in supporting the national team players so that they can show off their best performance.
The Korea Volleyball Association will do its best to help Korean volleyball shine once again on the international stage. We ask for the continued interest and support of volleyball fans and the public.
