My Dad Was a Successful Republican Businessman Who Worked Himself to Death…and Guess What, He…
Laura Borgendale

Loss carry forwards and deductible business expenses are helpful in keeping farmers in business. But Mr. Trump’s business is far more complex. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had a room full of CPAs supervised by a tax attorney lurking around Trump HQ somewhere. The problem is that he has to focus on what’s important in running his businesses, then delegate to talented people. Despite his declarations that he understands the tax code very well, he probably has to rely on others for most of his tax work. He also appears to have an advantage enjoyed by your own father: A set of rather competent and loving children to help him. That doesn’t just happen automatically…you have to work at it. I wouldn’t be too critical until you’ve helped to run a large business yourself.
