I started working as a Data Compilation Officer with the Ministry of Land And Natural Resource from October 2006 in Accra Ghana, this was a project undertaken by the ministry with funding and support from the world bank and other donor agencies. The aim of this project was to make Land Registration easy and do away with litigation issues. It was also to address the issue of cumbersome and rigorous processes and bring all the land agencies under one umbrella which we termed as “One stop shop”
As a data officer most of my duties were:
- Advised clients and applicant on the processes to go through to acquire their land certificate
- Ensured the regular protection and safety of the registry’s software and related applications in use
- Provided software support services to the operations, users and other staff members
- Identified and collected data to determine and recorded the status of the application
- Converted manual data into digital data and scanned documents for the establishment. In discharging my duties, I worked mostly with people at all levels which helped me greatly to learn about human and interpersonal relationship and other communication skills.
Prior to my first degree in Information Technology and Postgraduate in Management Information System(MIS), I had certification in Telecommunication Engineering and Advanced Business Information Technology.
Since the project was embarked on by all land agencies within that sector, I had to work with different people from different places and offices, getting to know and understanding the behaviors of people from diverse backgrounds, and that helped me to establish good relationships as well as working under time management and pressure.
After sometime getting to the 9th year of my employment, I felt I did not belong to that place because my skills were under utilized, I wanted to look out for a new place where I could showcase my skills as an IT professional since most of my duties were not technical IT inclined. I weighed several options and the final one was for me to have further studies.
I moved out in 2014 to further my education in AUSTRALIA where I had my Masters in IT with specialization in Networking Security and Digital Forensics, and that was where I also undertook the small appliance sale consultant job at JB Hifi and worked as a special educator for another 2 years after school.
I relocated to the US to also have a training in Cyber Security Operations to acquire some new and current skills due to my ambitions and my career expectations.
