Our Local Wineries

Need another good reason to visit Tuscarawas County? How about wine? We’ve got a dozen wineries in the area — all just a short drive from any of our bed and breakfasts.

Nestled in the heart of Amish Country, Swiss Heritage Winery and the adjoining Broad Run Cheesehouse pair well together. The winery boasts 17 locally-produced wines and the Broad Run Cheese is a scenic treat with award-winning cheeses.

The School House Winery just celebrated its 7th year and was named the Small Business of the Year by Tuscarawas County. The winery was built in 1886 as a one-room schoolhouse and now dons a historical marker from the Heritage Home Association.

Casella Winery in Dennison is another schoolhouse-turned-winery. Located a few miles from Atwood Lake, Casella offers a wide selection of wines and plenty of Ohio countryside to enjoy for your tasting excursions and private events.

The Yellow Butterfly Winery, of Newcomerstown, is a can’t miss — you literally can’t miss the bright yellow, 100-year-old barn against the beautiful Ohio landscapes. Celebrating five years, the Yellow Butterfly offers plenty of wine, an event venue and Saturday night barbeque. Stop by some time for a drink and visit with the farm’s alpacas.

While there are many more wineries in the area, one thing is clear, each winery has its own unique flair and offers plenty of reason to visit beyond the grapes. Whether you’re looking for live music, an Amish setting, scenery or a bit of history with your wine, Tuscarawas County has it. And more!
