Tuscarawas County: Small Towns, big stories
“Night Life” probably doesn’t come to mind when you think of the Ohio countryside, but there is plenty to do in the evening during your next visit to one of our great bed and breakfasts.
The Kent State Performing Arts Center in New Philadelphia hosts an array of events throughout the year. From Broadway series to musical performances to cabaret and even comedy shows, there’s a bit of something for everyone to enjoy. A full schedule can be found here.
Trumpet in the Land is an award-winning tale of the Ohio frontier during the Revolutionary War. Performed throughout summer at the Schoenbrunn Ampitheatre in New Philadelphia, Trumpet is Ohio’s longest running outdoor theatre production and can be enjoyed by all ages.
Musical shows in Amish Country probably? Maybe they’re not your first thought while booking your trip to Tuscarawas County, but don’t let that deter you from an unforgettable, and unexpected, experience. The Ohio Star Theater offers new musical performances every season. This summer, Josiah for President tells the comedic story of an Amish man’s unlikely Presidential race and is written by a former writer for Bob Hope.
Finally, Walnut Creek’s Amish Country Theater, voted a Top-100 Event in North America, offers comedy, ventriloquism and musical performances year round. Currently, two new variety shows, Kickin’ Chicken and Somewhere Over the Silo, are running throughout the summer months.
