If you don’t bake often, there’s noting worse than finding a bag of unused and way past it’s best flour in the cupboard. Making homemade play dough is a great way to use it up and have some non-toxic dough for the kids (and grown ups!) to play with.

It’s really easy to make too!

What you need:

1 cup plain (all-purpose) flour

½ cup salt

2 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 tablespoons vegetable oil

1 cup water with food colouring added

How to make it:

  1. Put all the ingredients into a large saucepan, and stir over a medium heat until the dough forms into a ball.
  2. Allow to cool, and then knead until smooth.

Make sure you store your play dough in an airtight container to stop it from drying out.

Enjoy!
