Hello

I did an independent evaluation of the DEMETER Biodynamic Farm Standard and the DEMETER certification process and I was appalled by what I found. Not only did I find some very troubling issues with the standard, when I notified DEMETER, the board of directors, and the Biodynamic Association EVERYONE downplayed my findings and blew me off. Nobody cared that the certification of biodynamic was severely compromised. I did this evaluation to help DEMETER solidify their integrity. Very telling…

In a nutshell found: that, 1) the standard contains several incongruities, 2) exemption clauses remove to a large degree the obligation of applicants to conform to the requirements that represent the most distinctive features of biodynamic agriculture, 3) relying on the USDA National Organic Program and the National List of Allowed and Prohibited Substances may not be in the best interest of biodynamic certification, 4) the organizational structure and set-up of the certification scheme may lead to potential conflicts of interest, and 5) marketing claims tend to overstate the benefits of DEMETER certification which can mislead consumers and jeopardize the biodynamic movement as a whole.

Indeed DEMETER are greenwashing and their incompetency will ultimately lead to the downfall of Rudolf Steiner’s vision for the renewal of agriculture. It was supposed to be a spiritual renewal, but has become greenwashing (bending the truth), greed, and spiritual narcissism.
