FIBROID AWARENESS AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH WORKSHOP.

Saturday 28th of October 2023, Green Globe Initiative (GGI) and partner through an innovative collaboration organized a workshop on Breaking The Silence; Understanding Fibroid and Environmental Health in the north central state, Kwara State Nigeria.

Fibroid is one of the major challenges that threatens the health of women within the reproductive ages of menstruation and menopause. This has been discovered to be claiming the lives of women in our society, and low level of the knowledge, early discovery, speaking out and management of fibroid is putting many people's lives into danger. Hence the need for this awareness workshop in a time like this.

Also, Environmental Health is a global concern, even though it is supposed to be more of a personal concern, because each persons need to take responsibility for his or her life. A healthy environment and lifestyle determines our individual health and wellbeing. Sanitation, hygiene, diet and nutrition among others play contributory roles on our health, safety, and wellbeing.

Sustainability is not limited to plants and animals, it is all encompassing. Planet, Plant and People need to live sustainably.

Dr. Dare Julius, one of the seasoned guest speakers delivered an expository presentation on the subject matter of "Breaking The Silence: Understanding Fibroid", while Mr. Abdulrahman Olumoh exposes the actions and inactions of the people which in turn affects environmental health and wellbeing.

Participants were thrilled as they had insightful and engaging sessions of learning, unlearning and relearning at the event. Among others, the "art and craft" as well as the "My Fibroid Story" sessions were intriguing, engaging and delightful.

This event birth a mind-shift and urgent need for behavioural change towards the health and wellbeing of women and the ecosystem at large.
