THE FAMILY TREE OF PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN

Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was born November 20th, 1942 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Joseph Robinette Biden Sr. and Catherine Eugenia Finnegan. After the Scranton area fell into decline in the 1950s, Biden and his family moved to Claymont, Delaware before eventually moving to Wilmington, Delaware. Biden attended the University of Delaware where he was a double major in history and political science and where he played football as a halfback for the school’s freshman football team. Biden would go on to attend the Syracuse University School of Law and would graduate in 1968.

On August 27th, 1966, when Biden was 23 years old, Biden married Neilia Hunter in Skaneateles, New York. They would have three children together, Joseph R “Beau” Biden III (1969–2015), Robert Hunter Biden (b. 1970), and Naomi (1970–1972).

On December 18th, 1972, Neilia was out shopping with their children when their vehicle was struck by a tractor-trailer truck killing Neilia and Naomi, Beau and Hunter both survived the crash.
