LeSS Agile, More Productive — Part 3: Productivity
Our Agile disaster — How doing LeSS has saved our sanity.
In Part 2 I talked a bit about how we hit the brakes and prepared to do LeSS. We got our teeth into the LeSS framework.
In this post I want to tell you about how we’ve been getting on ever since.
Sprint 1: Starting out
Before the sprint we did a 1-week Walk. We spent that week doing backlog refinement to make sure that the tickets we expected to fit into our upcoming 3-week sprint were in good shape. We didn’t want to fall at the first hurdle by immediately struggling with poorly defined tickets.
The first sprint was always going to require a bit of guess work. We obviously didn’t know what our velocity was, so we added tickets to the sprint that we felt were reasonably deliverable.
We committed to 105 points, knowing that we had 171 person days available to us. 3 weeks later, we had delivered 92 points.
