We have this same model of development at Netflix — all client development teams (Android, iOS, TV) also own the endpoints that their clients talk to. It’s a great way to operate. When we need a new feature on the client we can have updates to the server data deployed in minutes. It also has the user benefit of allowing for a minimal set of data to be passed down the wire for each network request.
