I know this feeling…

I grew up reading a lot. Not a common lot, but a ridiculous amount. Part of the reason I did so is the experience you describe in this article. Reading didn’t involve words from about second grade. It was simply a very detailed, very complex movie. I would be lost in the book, simply experiencing its world until some interruption would jar me back to reality or every couple of hours I would look up to see how many pages were left of the movie.

I still read this way, although I’m in my mid forties now and I can’t do it nearly as often. That being said, I still get lost in a good book most weeks and the interactive movies still continue. And I’m still by far the fastest reader I know.
