The reason I thought this was BS is due to all the silence I got from Apple when reporting bugs, posting in their developer forums, or tweeting to the people working on their web team. And it’s been ‘Under Consideration’ for something like 4 years, while meanwhile Google is championing the movement.
My article got posted on HN, and some interesting stuff regarding this surfaced:
Safari engineers have attended all service worker working group meetings, and they do contribute. However, I do share the frustrations over transparency. Apple is looking for service worker use-cases, so if it’s something you’re interested in, let them know https://lists.webkit.org/pipermail/webkit-dev/2017-July/0292....
And yeah, I did realize this and struggle with it! I first talk about PWA’s then go into how React Native was great. I added a bit there to try to clarify and connect the two.
