What is the Pay Gap and How Can We End It?
Justine Bunis

Pay should be equal, for the same job, for the same education and proven knowledge, for the same experience or “time in grade”.

How much and how fast your pay increases should depend on your performance at the job, not on your gender.

A woman with 5 years experience who has otherwise equivalent education and proven skills should make more at a specific job than a man with less than 5 years experience.

But what some people keep pushing for is that people, especially if they are women, should automatically get the same pay for the same job even if they have less education and experience, or even if their proven skills at a previous job were less.

Base pay on what a person can do, not their gender. Laws forcing employers to pay women more simply because they are women are a dis-incentive. Why bother learning and practicing and working more to equal or better a man when they can just walk in with the minimal requirements and get the same size paycheck — because the law says they must?
