Day 17: Nightlife in Boston on a Thursday Night? The unicorn of hanging out

The architecture in this city is incredible. At nights you can truly appreciate it. However, in a town with as many people as Boston you would think it would be active. Do you know what’s missing from this picture? People…

Original post written at 2:30 am on Friday the 25th, naturally not only did I forget to post it but then posted it a day late. Apologies for those expecting it!

All of my preconceived notions of Boston were proven wrong. I was under the impression this city was alive and awake into the wee hours of the night. To my extreme surprise, Boston apparently shuts down at 2 am. Well let me rephrase that. Boston supposedly ceases to serve alcohol at 1 am, food at midnight and everything finishes at 2 am. Normally that would be fine if people were out and you can of course still have a great time, except in Boston people only come out Friday and Saturday. At least, that is how it appeared. This was of great surprise to me! Yes, yes, I know my surprise stems from me comparing Boston night life to that of South Florida, which we all know is unfair. However, you would think that such a large city would cater to the transient market place that seeks entertainment past twilight. Someone should do something to regulate this phenomenon, but I digress. Today wasn’t about me, or a lack of night life. It was a celebration of success.

I came to Boston to witness one of my closest friends graduate. How incredible it was to watch him walk across the stage and how I celebrated his success. There is a beauty in the celebration of scholarly success and while I could write a massive post on how proud I am of him, considering he reads this and gets easily embarrassed, for once I will spare him and go with a simple MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS!

Now to go attempt to find some nightlife in this city…for fun though see below for one of my random findings in this city.

One of the strangest things I found in Boston. Taken at the Museum of Fine Arts. That is a literal baby head. While I see how artistic it is, that doesn’t change the fact I do find it a little creepy.
