I’m wondering what your thoughts are on the changes to the 2020 qualifying times.

For example, for 2020, I will be in the male 45–49 age group. In my head, I knew I’d need to aim for about a 3:20 finish to be able to run Boston (3:25 qualifying plus a five minute cushion to actually be able to register).

With this year requiring 4:52 better than qualifying to register, that five minute cushion seems about right.

While it’ll certainly be harder to qualify next year, do you think it’ll actually make much difference with how hard it will be to actually register to race?
