Trump should have recognized the particular character of McCain long back when he’d delivered an American war hero one of the most disrespectful exclamations that could ever have been thrown.

I knew for 100% sure at that moment that McCain would not let it go without an exponentially more impactful response. I also suspected though that the response would be much delayed. It would be “banked” and held for just the right moment.

Not just the moment that would give Trump the most embarrassment. The moment that would provide that embarrassment, while also absolutely wrecking something Trump really REALLY needed to accomplish.

With his decades of experience, McCain had to know such a moment was pretty much inevitable, so it was well worth exercising a lot of long patience. Maybe he even knew that when the moment came he would know it was nigh, but Trump in his glorious ignorance would never even imagine it was about to take place.

I am so glad and grateful that McCain is going to be with us at least long enough to fully bask in the glow of this accomplishment; he most certainly deserves it.

I’ve seen in the media that members of the Senate have become much more emboldened now to speak up and take positions that might publicly pit them against Trump, with all of the possible repercussions that might entail. They have though lost much of the existential fear that was holding them hostage to him for far too long.

One neighborhood kid stood up to the bully, and now the rest of the “kids” can see what a “whiny little pussy” Trump actually is. Thank You John! Time for the rest of the country to follow suit…
