Trump still takes his “walkaway money”.

That’s to him what the whole thing has been about. He’s obviously never cared about the outcome of any issue he was supposed to be managing, and anyone would have to wonder why.

It’s because the only thing that could have ever convinced him to abandon his coveted closely-held personal business was the opportunity to continue making a sufficient amount of money while in office.

Observe his absolute refusal to break completely from his business affairs, together with his abject refusal to allow any open review of his tax forms, “now and forever” it seems. Those two facts known together could inform any good forensic accountant as to his intentions.

Anyone keeping track, like MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow has been, of his swift adoption of every kind of opaque “money stream” imaginable simply confirms that from day one he began implementing his intent to make sure and “Git me some!” before he left, whether sooner, or later.

He must have known his term would be rather short, seeing as how quickly he sank his claws into the various skims & scams he has implemented so far. Everything he can grab with both hands before the house he’s set on fire falls down around him.

That’s why none of his “duties” have seemed to matter, to him. They don’t. Has he ever sounded like he really cared what the rest of the country or world does? He never has and still doesn’t. He’s not even motivated to genuinely act like he cares; a shallow performance will do just fine, to get him past each public moment.

We don’t shoot failed ex-Presidents, do we? He knows that.

People should expect anyone as immune to shaming as Trump to have no problem at all bearing the shame of his misbegotten tenure, as long as he can cynically guffaw for the rest of his life while counting his ill-gotten gains.

That would make not just one but two “Super Bowl” level cons he was able to pull on the entire country; Getting elected, and then what all experienced “Long-Con” artists arrange for their “post-exit strategy”: Gathering up by surreptitious means a great big bundle of “walk-away money”; the “golden parachute” funds that you don’t even tell your compatriots about during the run of the con that you have created.

His fellow conspirators (including family) may end up broke; maybe even indicted, and broke. At least none the richer and far less than popular or powerful. They will never know though, just how well he fared in comparison to their lot.

And if he’s really that good, neither, will we.
