He is the first of only 2 players (the other being Corey Perry) to have ever won each of the six major North American and international competitions (The Memorial Cup, World Juniors, World Championship, Olympic Gold, the World Cup of Hockey and the Stanley Cup).

Scott Niedermayer

He won the Stanley Cup 4 times.

3 times as a member of the New Jersey Devils and once with the Anaheim Ducks.

Internationally, Niedermayer played with Team Canada on several occasions. He is a member of the Triple Gold Club, having won the Stanley Cup as well as a World Championship (2004) and Olympic gold medals (2002, 2010). Niedermayer was captain of the 2010 gold medal winning team. Niedermayer also played for the Memorial Cup champions, and championship teams at the 1991 World Junior Championships and the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, making him and Corey Perry the only players in history to have ever won each of the six major North American and international competitions available to players. He was introduced in to the IIHF All-Time Canada Team in 2020.

Individually, in 2003–04, while on the Devils, he won the James Norris Memorial Trophy in as the NHL’s top defenseman.

In 2007, as a Duck, the Conn Smythe Trophy as the most valuable player of the playoffs.

Niedermayer was known for his skating and offensive prowess.

Playing on defense-first New Jersey, some feel, held him back, but in my mind, that is where he improved his overall game which made him one of the greatest defensemen all-time.

My greatest Niedermayer moment is when, after winning the Stanley Cup in 2003 with the Devils, he took the Stanley Cup to the top of Bull mountain near his hometown of Cranbook BC.

I’ve never consistently written anything until recently in a journal. This is therapeutic more than anything.
