I agree. I have spent time with a lot of PM’s and product teams in companies much bigger than startups and I keep seeing product marketers or growth teams brought in to the process long after the product has been designed. I think, especially in startups, the misconception is that you build a product, you achieve product market fit then you can bring someone in to ‘growth hack’ when realistically either the product team need to be thinking about viral loops, onboarding and delighters from a growth perspective not just good user experience.
