Puppies & Tiaras

Hi non-comprehensive list of Louis fanciers & people I like here:

So, as some of you may have heard, our little boy Louis is a bona fide show dog. His first show is this weekend, competing in the “Puppy 6–9mo” class (yes, that’s a thing). If anyone is feeling like a field trip to Vallejo this weekend to watch me and Louis traipse around a show ring, I wish to formally extend the invitation. And feel free to forward to all the dog fanciers I may have missed.

Show is happening at the Solano County Fairgrounds. Breed is being shown at 11am and the Puppy class will go on beginning around 3pm. Hit me up if you want more details.

Those are the logistics. Here is the pitch.

In case you are interested, here is a non-comprehensive list of things that I am semi-expecting to happen this weekend:

  • Louis poops in the ring
  • Other puppies poop in the ring
  • Louis kisses AND / OR bites a judge
  • Louis refuses to let go of his favorite pink pig toy before going in the ring
  • I panic when Louis poops in the ring and start crying

Some fun facts:

  • Louis’s full name is SHE Cotons Louis Christophe (I was not allowed to name him “Bear” because it was considered too undignified)
  • Louis’s hair styling appointments take approximately 3–4 hours, depending on his mood and how determined he is to eat the brush
  • The maximum amount of time ever spent on my hair was 60 minutes. I have never tried to eat the brush
  • Louis’s sire is named GCH Hopecrest Dance With Me Tonight, but friends call him Ollie (you’re probably not his friend so don’t even think about it)
  • Louis’s mother is named Zigi’s Coton Angela, and at 18 lbs she’s a bit of a tank but we don’t talk about it because we want her to feel good about her body
  • Louis and I regularly watch Best in Show and take notes
  • I may never do this again, so this is your shot to see it happen

Apparently I have to wear a suit, so, I’ll probably be cranky on Monday.

Also, you may get to meet my brother and his wife. They’re cool, you’ll like them more than you like me. Their puppy, Gidget, is in heat (early bloomer!), so she will unfortunately not be in attendance due to concerns that she may be too popular.
