Thanks for your awesome response. Such great thoughts! I left out the most important piece of my discovery because I was swimming in data but the most important part was I saw the CEOs and thought they were all stock photography. When I was doing a final data check on the sources of the images, I realized they were all real CEOs. My brain had made up that it was stock photography because the truth was really overwhelming. Stock photography produces what people buy and I do have stuff on them going with stereotypes. I think the pictures choices are more unconscious than conscious bias. I’ve done the “picture” a CEO test with my friends of every gender and color and 90% of them picture a white man in a tie looking confident when they picture a CEO.
