“Sweat like a pig” but don’t eat like one….

Just kidding! As a millennial, you’re entitled to eat as much as you like since this is the only period of your life where you can eat all you want and still be immune to various health hazards.

But at the same time, one should understand the benefits of fitness and the part it plays in the long term. The habit of inculcating fitness in one’s routine will yield many fruits in the distant future.

You are not asked to follow Dwayne Jhonson’s or John Abraham’s stringent fitness routine but even a 45 minutes cardio session or weight training session five days a week will have far fetched advantages. Involvement in a particular sport, physical activities (cycling, swimming) or yoga & meditation also adds up to the well-being and healthy lifestyle at a tender age.

Few downplayed but proven benefits of fitness are:

  • A fit brain is directly proportional to a fit lifestyle:
  • Even a mild fitness activity like a leisurely walk helps improve the cognitive functions of the brain which results in improved learning skills.
  • Bigger the muscles, bigger the self-esteem:
  • Change in body shape results in a confidence surge. In addition, seeing fitness improvements like running that extra mile, or lifting that extra weight leads to higher self-confidence
  • It’s not only about toned abs but also improves mental health:
  • Fitness elevates the mental health through mood and memory of an individual. Half an hour of physical activity a day helps keep stress at bay and relieves that individual of any form of depression.
  • Helps to reduce the pain during periods: Not only exercise helps to diminish the pain while periods but also reduces the use of sedating pain medications having unfavorable side effects.
  • Want to quit smoking? Start working out:
  • Exercises help curb cravings and withdrawal symptoms. Through cognitive-behavioral therapy and exercising for only 40 minutes three times a week, an individual who has the habit of smoking for more than 20 years can quit, A study has been proven.
  • Health Insurance……What is that?: Comprehending fitness as a habitual activity from an early age will result in a better and healthier lifestyle in the future. Thus, all those huge premiums to be paid on health insurances as one age can be kept in check.

So, please don’t be a couch potato, go out there and work that ass off.
