Cannabis

Could cannabis be the lobotomy of the 21st Century, under-researched but performed for seeming health benefits? While lobotomies were performed, cruelly might I add, to improve mental health (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m__SMOo8rZw), cannabis has a reversed approach. It’s mostly being used to treat physical ailments such as chronic pain, epilepsy. Cannabis, much like lobotomies, has potential detrimental effects to a person’s mental health. It may provoke schizophrenia in people genetically predisposed to the disorder (https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/317170.php) and aggravate symptoms of bipolar disorder. The previous generation of the Kennedys were susceptible to the fallacies of ‘miracle cures’, but the current generation is more astute. I’m not for or against the use cannabis, I just believe it is kind of like snake oil. I believe further research needs to take place before legalisation and research into alternatives should also be funded.
