What is the point of Generation X?

I think this is very insightful, both on the failures of the boomers, and they way GenXers were able to access the war time generation through their grandparents, setting them apart from Millenials. One thing I think needs putting into the mix is that Gen X is a small generation. The nadir of births in this country was 1976 I believe, one year before I was born. Smaller generations not only have a harder time imposing themselves politically but also socially, where the tastes of bigger generations set the standards. The Millenials are a larger generation, and so have the greater confidence.
