Introduction
On July 20th, 2022 — Mojang (the parent company to Minecraft) implemented a ban on NFTs. Essentially all web3 components within Gridcraft must be removed to become compliant with Mojang’s new policy. This implementation did not align with our vision for Gridcraft. As a result, Gridcraft’s team has started working with top innovators in the web3 space and will offer even more perks and benefits to holders of both Gridcraft Identities & NuCyber.
Gridcraft will continue to build towards its original vision of connecting communities through rewards and fun experiences with genesis partners while also continuing to expand the ecosystem. To do this we have partnered with some of the largest and most reputable metaverse developers within web3 to bring our vision to life. Doing so will allow us to rapidly develop and expand Gridcraft within a very short period of time (weeks — not years).
While our studio will continue to develop our Minecraft network (sans blockchain technology), Gridcraft will also now build an interactive browser based metaverse with activities that align with our inclusive web3 vision.
Gridcraft & NuCyber on Pixels
We have decided to expand Gridcraft with Pixels to create an amazing metaverse experience which will include many of our original plans. Pixels is a 2D based metaverse available to be played directly from your web browser without having to download any extras.
Pixels consists of a team of 16+ from all types of different backgrounds which includes some with experience working at AAA gaming studios. Some of their investors also include Opensea, Animoca Brands, Untapped and PKO.
We felt that Pixels and Gridcraft & NuCyber shared the same vision when it comes to creating an open-world experience that includes socialization aspects, game activity and abilities to customize/modify parts of the environment. Pixels has many high quality and amazing features already released but they are getting ready to release a huge bundle of updates they have been holding back.
In this article, we will simply overview how we will build out our vision with Pixels and how exactly both ecosystems will interact with each other. We will also go over how this adds value to our holders for the fact that we are working with a more decentralized entity with the ability to have much more freedom.
What Pixels Has Been Building
Pixels, the platform has been at work for quite a while and has created some really appealing in-game functions. There are already many things to do within the ecosystem which we will cover briefly.
- Collecting resources which currently includes farming and planting and harvesting trees

- Leveling up and unlocking new items
- Building and customizing land to access even more rare and unique resources

They have a whole system already created and they are about to release their latest build soon as well which will revamp a lot of the above, enhance the art and also the experience on Pixels. Some of the other things they will be including and creating will enable us to create in-game assets with little to no code and enable it to all be blockchain ready.
How Does Gridcraft/NuCyber Work in Pixels?
With us deciding to build on Pixels, you will be able to do a lot of similar things we initially shared with you but also way more functionality as well.
We will focus on allowing your Gridcraft Identity to be imported as an avatar, being able to own/manage/alter land, ability to use a map to navigate Gridcraft, centralized shops for you to purchase items, tons of quests and custom experiences.
With this partnership, we will also be able to fully manage $BITS and distribute $BITS how we see fit based on our strategy for in-game utility. We currently also plan to integrate NuCyber as land as well with custom/unique functionality to ensure there is value dilution with the ecosystem.
We are very early with this partnership so many opportunities are to come and a lot of exciting news regarding development and new features will be released over time. We are very amped to build this out and truly believe this is the right path forward for our community and vision for what a metaverse and web3 play and earn platform looks like.
NuCyber
With NuCyber, initially we will start with the Pixel plots as our base but we will look to transition into a more “home” style simulation. What this may include is special functionalities such as being able to hire a butler, potentially managing vehicles via a car garage, owning a pet, a daily mailbox mechanic and so much more.

We will closely be speaking with the Pixels team to set a proper execution plan — but we wanted to of course announce our plans moving forward that we are building with Pixels. NuCyber, the land will be available on Minecraft as well but will only be a place to build on while the land on our Pixels will be more of a utility based plot.
Additionally, Llamaverse will have their own playable avatars (as will Gridcraft Identities) and we will more than likely figure out something for NuCyber holders in the near future.
Gridcraft Land
Land was originally intended to serve as a place for players to build within a world. This had its limitations as players would have needed to own Minecraft and invest time in building on their plot. With our recent developments, we’ve converted our existing 3D map into a 2D overview, but that’s not the exciting part. Instead of owning a single plot of land with access into Gridcraft, land owners will now own a plot in multiple metaverses.
When a user owns a plot of land in Gridcraft, they will also own a plot of land in the multiple metaverses we’re building. Each metaverse will have $BITS integration, a play & earn mechanic and will accommodate the map below. Each plot is only mintable with $BITS and tradeable as an ERC-721 token.
Land owners will have the ability to customize their plot appearance.
Gridcraft Identities
Identities will serve as avatars and are being integrated into each metaverse we’re building. In addition to gameplay integration, they will continue to serve as $BITS generation nodes.
$BITS & Utility
All utility / in-game functionality that was related to on-chain activities such as crate openings, quests and more will now be available through a browser based experience. We’re incredibly excited about this update as it broadens the availability and utility of $BITS to a larger audience.
Does This Change Delivery Times?
We have been doing a lot of research on how long it takes to create an alternative game engine or creating something from scratch and sometimes those can take years to properly create. We felt like this would not be the course of action we’d like to take. We did research and gathered community thoughts and agreed that waiting years may not be a good idea.
After deep discussion with the Pixels team we’re confident we will be able to release our initial prototype within a few weeks. We’re working closely with Pixel to build and expand with their well-qualified team, experience and fantastic backing. Game updates will be announced as major developments occur.
We will still build more on Gridcraft as suggested above in the article this will also include the minigames. In the meantime, there will be tons of questions/activities on the Pixels platform for you to earn $BITS especially as more updates get released.
We will of course work on releasing a proper timeline/development plan very soon as we first wanted to establish what is realistic to not overpromise holders. Firstly, we wanted to announce that yes we have a plan and we are super excited about this move.
How Does This Affect You as a Holder?
The only difference is the platform with the added benefit of establishing even more utility since we are building on a more decentralized platform and have more say in what we can do on this platform.
We plan to amplify the intended utility with our new delivery timelines, and you will be very excited. We are working hard with the Pixels team to properly correlate with them to paint our vision of a “metaverse.” They have a firm idea of how they want their metaverse, and we are glad to be building with them.
Other than that, we will deploy all of Gridcraft’s previous functionality such as staking to earn $BITS, utilizing them via a marketplace for cosmetics, items, managing & creating on your land, and so much more.
