I submitted a video to National Geographic’s Expedition Granted, a competition that seeks to push the boundaries of what we talk about when we talk about exploring. I proposed a project in which I’ll document stories behind one simple ingredient: the mustard seed. My plan is to target half a dozen or so locations with a history steeped in mustard and gather recipes and stories from people in those communities. I’ll document my findings online in a collaborative forum that allows for others to share, scaling great mustard stories and recipes from around the world beyond the kitchens in which they are traditionally made.
