I’m Sean Grote and This is How I Work
- Location: Milton WI|Duluth MN
- Current Gig: Finance and Economics Student at the University of Minnesota Duluth
- One word that describes how you work: Efficiently

What apps/software/tools can’t you live without? Why?
Google Apps, Microsoft Office, Market Watch App, Spotify. I use Word, PowerPoint, and Excel on a daily basis for classes and extracurricular work I am responsible for. I also love being up to date with the stock market and the Market Watch App is a really convenient app allowing me to read timely and relevant articles. When I work I listen to Spotify almost all the time.
What’s your best time-saving shortcut/life hack?
I live off of Google Calendar. Everything I do is on the calendar so when the time comes for the event/class/club to take place I never forget. It streamlines everything in my life. I worry about when another commitment is because I have a notification 15 minutes prior.
What everyday thing are you better at than everyone else? What’s your secret?
I am able to read, decipher, and analyze something pulling the critical information right away. It allows me to spend time focusing on the important information rather than the fluff often included.
What do you listen to while you work?
I listen to almost any type of music. Lately I have been listening to the peaceful piano profile on Spotify. It helps me focus and keeps me relaxed.
What’s the best advice you’ve ever received?
The Golden Rule is wrong:
“Treat others the way they want to be treated.”
By treating everyone the way they want to be treated you will show you respect and care about them. Everyone is different.
Where do you find inspiration and new ideas?
In my role as a student I have a plethora a knowledge and resources available to me. I find inspiration and new ideas from those resources as I am constantly learning and absorbing new information.
What’s your favorite quote?
“A man may die, nations may rise and fall, but an idea lives on.”
I love this quote by former President John F. Kennedy. Your time as a person on this Earth is limited and so are countries. However the impact that you have is not. When you think of influential figures in history like Mahatma Gandhi, George Washington, and Nelson Mandela, they are remembered for what they accomplished. All that started from an idea. An idea lives on. I strive to have one of my ideas remembered long after I am gone.
