The Grounds For Play Design Process

The secret to how we create better play environments!

Our play environments are a collaborative effort between our Design Consultants and our clients. We understand that our clients view their play environments as extensions of their curricula and facilities. Learn about our extensive design process on how we create better play environments.

1. Customer Interview

We start by asking you critical questions that will help make your play environment successful and meet you vision and mission. Examples include:

  • What are the goals for your playground?
  • What is your curriculum?
  • What areas of child development would you like to address?

2. Site Review and Preliminary Planning

Keeping in mind your budget, available space, intended users, goals, and many other factors, we suggest the level of service that’s right for you; whether it’s one piece of quality equipment or the planning and development of your entire outdoor learning environment. When planning your entire play area, we will apply the knowledge we have gained in doing more than 15,000 playground projects during the past three decades to create an environment that fosters the physical, cognitive, social, and emotional development of your children.

3. Safety and Developmental Review

We understand that there is nothing more important than safety, which is why every plan is reviewed by experts in early childhood education for developmental appropriateness by our Design Consultants, who are Certified Playground Safety Inspectors, for safety and functionality, aligning your playground with state and national standards.

4. Final Plan

We provide a detailed computer aided design (CAD) drawing that captures your vision for your playground. This plan will showcase your full play environment and bring your vision to life.

5. Manufacturing

Your play equipment is expertly crafted in the United States to exacting standards by our own craftsmen and is created with careful attention to detail and safety.

6. Installation

The last and most exciting step is our installation process! You will receive a packet containing information that will help you prepare for the installation process. If professional installation from Grounds For Play is chosen, your project manager will schedule the installation of your playground equipment and coordinate all the ancillary services to get your playground finished on schedule.
