An overspeeding truck lost control on steering. The problem could have been failure of any structural components, wear of bushes, axle bending etc. The truck rammed into the side railing of road and fortunately there was no casuality. On investigation , it was found that the king pin bushes had worn out causing play and wobbling, there was axle bend, thus further causing steering issue.
This is dealt under relliability where the useful operation of a vehicle is estimated. What is required is to have a good and robust material selection process, good control on manufacturing process which needs to be revalidated after a frequency of six months, a good design validation program taking into all the field loads and data and finally defining the maintenance schedule based on that
