Stand Up For Something

Staying Good At Life

--

I wanted to write a post as a follow up to my recent,
How To Be Good At Life” post. (Which was was exponentially more popular than I ever imagined — so Thank You.)

Recently I read an article titled, “San Francisco split by Silicon Valley’s wealth” and it was a real eye-opener. I travel to SF often for work, so I’ve seen and experienced some of the mentioned behavior, and the article is dead on.

After reading the article all I was left with was What The Fuck Is Wrong With Some People.

I am a believer that with success comes responsibility.

Success is a byproduct of hard work and putting yourself into the right situations to succeed. But think back to a couple of key things that tipped the scale in your favor (and helped you on your way to success.) How did they come about? What put you in the right place? Most importantly — Who helped you?

If you can answer the last question above — you owe it to someone to pass along your kindness and assistance.

Assistance comes in many forms. Volunteer in your community. Help by giving someone a good referral. Put in a good word for someone. Hold open a door for someone. Make a donation. Be active in your community. Smile at someone.

Too often people forget where they came from. These people are dicks. Don’t be a dick.
