I’d say this is a rather bold statement. VS Code performs very well indeed. But Atom for example feels very sluggish and has a quite slow startup. Morover the memory usage of Electron based applications is tremendous.
While I agree, that Electron might be a good fit for some applications, it really should not be new default approach for desktop GUI applications. A simple text editor used to require a few megabytes to run. Nowadays it is commonly accepted, that simple applications consume hundreds of megabytes. Just because computers offer lots of RAM nowadays, programmers mustn’t be too lazy to think critically about the usage of system resources in my opinion.
