Lose 5lbs instantly. Wear the right leggings, girl!

I love to work out.

Admittedly, working out is a relatively new love of mine. I started after the birth of my first child in 2009. I gained 75lbs from start to finish over the course of that pregnancy- I looked vomitous. I swear strangers could smell the flesh burning as I walked by from my thighs rubbing together. I couldn’t stand the fact that my pre-pregnancy clothes looked like they could fit a Barbie doll and there wasn’t a hope in hell that I could see my knees unless I did something about this weight I had acquired.

So I joined a gym and got myself a personal trainer.

The first few months were shit. I’m not going to lie. Progress was slow but I managed to change my body just enough to keep motivated. It wasn’t long before I started to see real results and I finally mustered up the courage to go out and buy something other than BLACK leggings. I was considering something with colour… perhaps a pattern? I was desperate for wardrobe-workout inspiration. No, I couldn’t do another day of black.

The sweet 20-something who works the front of the Lululemon store greeted me with their white, gleaming, vegan smile. She waved her nimble yoga hand and spun her 110lb body around like a ballerina before continuing to fold hoodies. I wanted to look like her. UNjiggly. Slim. Carefree.

Desperately.

But I was still 45lbs off and slowly chipping away. She couldn’t understand what it was like to go days without sleep (new baby) only to wake up at 8:30am and train at the gym because that was the only time I had coverage for the little one. I had black rings under my eyes. Not just dark ones. BLACK rings.

I was desperate to find something in that damn store. I flicked through the piles of neatly folded leggings in search of grey, smoke, navy blue… ANYTHING but black. I tried a few pair on and admittedly, they were OK but nothing changed my life. I bought the navy and went home.

A year and a half went by and I stuck to variations of black. Got my ass down to pre-pregnancy weight again and BAM, had another baby. This time I didn’t gain as much - maybe 20 lbs total? Sweet. I was back in a bikini 3 months later.

I’ve kept up with the workouts. But to this day, I have been put off by lack of really flatteringly patterned workout gear. Believe me, I have searched. There is a SERIOUS lack of consistency in leggings that actually make a woman look slimmer. Sure, a few companies hit the jackpot with one or two out of twenty designs that look particularly good but nothing is consistent.

So I decided to take it upon myself.

I’m launching Gruvengirl Leggings by the end of this year. Mid Oct is the target date. The purpose is that every pair of leggings will lengthen and slim a woman’s legs in addition to make the butt a bit perkier. They will be TOP NOTCH in PERFORMANCE whether in the gym or on the track… I’m sourcing the best fabrics from Italy.

Please, I’d LOVE your feedback! Email me beth@gruvengirl.com tell me your likes & dislikes. I need as much feedback as I can get. I am making these for ME… and for YOU, gorgeous!
