At work, the entry level positions are paid $13.50 because they get benefits, insurance etc. Something I noticed with the $15/hr wage is that new hires are more likely than ever just to quit or literally walk out on the job because Caffe Vita or some such place a few blocks down the road actually pays $15. It hurts the business in that we’re constantly hiring new people and replacing the folks who worked two days and quit. Also, it has made our contract negotiations very tense this year because next year all low level positions make $15/hr so that leaves the higher level people wanting more pay. Of course management is like, 🙈🙉🙊. Anyway, I think it’s too early to tell how the $15 min. wage affected Seattle businesses since it’s way too soon and besides bigger companies like mine aren’t even paying folks $15.
