What Is Going On With Retail?
Nicole Dieker

Paul Constant just wrote an essay on the death of retail and one his key points is that shopping IRL is not a very enjoyable experience anymore because sales associates push credit card applications on shoppers to an annoying level. I went to Nordstrom Rack on Saturday and the cashier asked me sooo many questions (zip code, email, phone number?) and kept asking me to open a credit card with them. I really can’t blame them either because I know it’s their job, but that’s the kind of thing I don’t have to deal with if I just buy online.
