The Roku streaming players are designed by the Roku company mainly to watch movies offered by the Netflix streaming service. Once the player is connected to the television, it only needs to be activated to start watching movies instantly. If you need to activate your Roku player, you require the Roku activation code and these few simple steps to execute:

  • Connect the Roku box to your television following the procedure indicated in the Roku manual.
  • Turn on your TV and select the input channel for the Roku box. Once you see the Roku welcome screen, press the “Select” button on the Roku remote control.
  • After selecting Configure for home use, the TV will search the Wi-Fi networks within range and display them in order, the strongest signals first.
  • In the case of 4K models, you will be asked to select the method (wired or wireless) that goes to use to connect to the Internet.
  • If you decide to connect your TV to the Internet via an Ethernet cable, connect the Ethernet cable that comes from your router or modem to the TV and select wiring (Ethernet).
  • The TV will verify the connectivity to your local network, and then to the Internet. If the verification is correct, the TV will jump to link your Roku account.
  • Press the Up or Down button to highlight your wireless network, and then press the OK button to select it.

Tip: If you do not see the name of the wireless network in the list, you may have to adjust the location of the wireless router or TV, turn on the router, or make other changes. When everything is ready, select scan again to see if the network name now appears in the list.

  • If your network is password protected, an on-screen keyboard will appear. Use the keyboard to enter the network password.
  • After sending your network password, the TV shows progress message, as it connects to your wireless network, your local network and the Internet.
  • Once your Roku player is connected to Wi-Fi, it will automatically search and download any available software updates.

Note: The Roku player periodically checks for updates. These updates provide new features and improve your experience with the Roku. After an update, you may notice that some options have been moved and that there are new options or features.

Roku Registration Process

Once we have our Roku player configured, we can go to the Roku website and register with these instructions:

  • Put your postal address in the prompted box.
  • Then you have to enter your credit card information, in case you want to access some payment channels.
  • Finally, you have to link your Roku to the account.
  • Provide your WiFi information to connect the Roku to your network to register ROKU.
  • You will get a Roku Activation Link code on the screen that you have to put on the website. Once this is done you can go to update the Firmware.
  • It is important to do all these steps in order.

Installing Roku Channels

Once the Roku is configured and registered, we can go to the “Channel Store” and start installing channels. They are divided into different categories. New, movies, music, sports, technology, etc. Once we enter the channel, it warns us if to see extra content you have to subscribe or not.

Premium channels are mostly paid, although these channels are a minority in terms of quantity since we are talking about 700 official channels and other so-called “private channels” that we can install by doing a Google search of “Roku channels or Roku Private Channels “ or simply with the channel name such as “watch tbs on Roku”.

These channels are all legal, since they have to be previously approved by Roku, what happens that many are not in the channel store. For this, you have to put the channel code in our Roku account through the web page, and they will install the next time we turn on the device.

So that’s all for now, stay tuned for other updates.
