Wisdom Emerges from Mastery
Wisdom is allowed to emerge after we have attained mastery of knowledge.
Mastery does not occur until we have learned — memorized — information. We can hold only four things in our working memory, so we must internalize — learn, remember, memorize — these things if we want to be able to effortlessly pull them up and use them. Otherwise information will take up one of the four slots.
We cannot internalize/learn/remember/memorize unless we attend to things. We must apply the skill of attention to learn.
This is why individual wisdom will never emerge just because we have access to the internet. Before we can apply judgement to a thing of any complexity, we must have internal access. We must be able to hold that internal state of complexity within the mind. It must be “at our fingertips”.
Wikipedia provides information, not judgement or wisdom.
Wisdom emerges from learning. Learning emerges from attention (and repetition).
